Al Rawabi’s secret to high quality milk: A healthy cow
Al Rawabi was founded in 1989 in Dubai with a farm of 500 cows. Today, Al Rawabi has been in business for over 31 years and is the largest dairy company in the UAE, with over 17,000 happy cows. As we continue to grow, we nurture and feed our cows as per their needs so that they can produce fresh, high-quality milk.
Our ‘Happy Cows’ roam freely on our 300-acre farm, located at Al Khawaneej Dubai. The farm is equipped with cooling sheds to ensure the cows live stress free. Our expert team at the farm closely monitors the highly sensitive cows, taking care of them and feeding them nutritious food and water to ensure their optimal health and happiness. High-quality cereals, grass, straw, corn, soya, and bran are all included in their feed.
The milking process begins at 5 am in milking parlors that can accommodate up to 220 cows at a time. Motion sensor sprinklers are activated, which helps keep the cow’s body heat warm as it is transported in batches to the milking parlors. Each cow is milked three times per day.
On an average, the farm collects between 250,000 and 270,000 liters of milk per day. After the cows are milked, the milk is immediately cooled to 0-6 0C in special refrigerators to avoid any bacteria. The milk is then stored in silos before being transported to nearby plants in modern tank vehicles. These procedures ensure that the milk sourced from the cow’s following milking process does not come into contact with air. Our tankers deliver the milk to our plant approximately nine times per day. Following that, the milk is pasteurized, homogenized, standardized, and fermented.
This is why Al Rawabi Milk can be easily recognized by its full taste, preserved naturalness, and perfect white color. The milk from our happy cows ensures to make that irresistible white moustache that supports healthy growth. The time and effort we put into our cows ensures the freshness and high quality of each of our dairy products.
Our farms are open for tours for education and corporate institutions on the weekdays and for family and friends over the weekend. Visit us to learn more about the history of dairy farming, take a walk through the moo-seum, see the milking process, meet our little calves that are born every day.
